Cylindrical-cell insulation-paper applicator
Honsenze's insulation-paper applicator takes a roll of insulation material, punches pads and applies them to the positive end of cylindrical cells, four cells per punching stroke. Dies change for the 18–21 range. It suits pack lines that fit insulation after sorting and before spot welding.
Roll feed, punching and terminal placement
Honsenze describes automatic roll feed and take-up, an inclined loading hopper and a punch that handles four cells at once. The adhesive backing is peeled from the die before punching, and the centre-hole scrap and backing are collected on the machine. Check scrap collection on your own roll during the trial.
The page names an ‘18–21’ universal range with die changes, but gives no full table of compatible cells. Send the drawing of each cell you run, whether 18650, 21700 or another variant, with the positive-terminal profile and the incoming packaging, and ask which die each one needs.
| Parameter | Published value | Record status |

| Format change | Die change described; exact cell schedule pending | known |
Catalogue values apply to the configuration and test method the maker states. Ask for the values that apply to your configuration.

Settle the paper thickness before tooling is made
Honsenze's article gives two thickness figures: insulation paper at 0.1–0.3 mm early on, and positive-terminal pads at 0.25–0.5 mm further down. The two ranges overlap only in part, and neither is tied to a specific quoted machine. Ask the supplier to confirm in writing which thickness the quoted die and feed handle.
Send the material you plan to use with its nominal thickness, tolerance, adhesive build, roll width and core size. Ask for the die, feed tension and release-liner set-up for that exact roll. The page lists many paper and protective-film types; their insulation performance differs, so choose the material on your own electrical requirement and then tool for it.

Check what the welding station will need
Agree where the centre opening, the outer edge and any tab access sit, and how far each may drift. Run trial cells that carry the normal size spread of your purchased cells, drawn from stock rather than picked by hand. After normal transfer, look for loose centre scrap, adhesive on the terminal, lifted edges and damage.
Ask the supplier to show how stroke and application pressure are set and how the machine flags a missing pad or a feed fault. Check adhesion after the dwell time and handling your line will apply. Dielectric strength and long-term adhesion come from the material you approve and your own tests on it.
In a cylindrical pack line the applicator sits between sorting and welding: the Honsenze 18650 sorter groups the cells first, and the Honsenze spot-welding station joins them afterwards. The module and pack category lists other stations for the same line, and the acceptance test planning page explains how to measure placement accuracy at a factory test.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which cell variants share a die? | The page gives an 18–21 range and die changes but no dimensioned cell list. | Get a die drawing for each cell and watch a changeover. |
| Which insulation roll will the machine run? | The page gives two thickness ranges, 0.1–0.3 mm and 0.25–0.5 mm. | Fix material, thickness tolerance, adhesive and roll size in the quote. |
| Will the pad block welding or leave debris? | The page describes centre punching and scrap take-up. | Run your roll through handling and the weld fixture and inspect the opening and debris. |
Equipment questions
How many cells per hour does four per punch give?
Honsenze publishes no hourly output for this machine. Four cells per punch describes one tooling stroke. Feeding, cycle time, inspection, roll changes and stops all set the real hourly count, so ask for a sustained run with your cell packaging and your insulation roll.
