Cylindrical PACK resistance spot-welding station
Honsenze's PACK spot-welding station joins nickel or plated interconnects to cylindrical cells using servo welding heads and live monitoring of welding current. Honsenze gives about 2,500–3,000 18650 cells per hour as an example rate. It suits pack builders welding cylindrical cells into modules.
Heads, electrodes and current monitoring
Honsenze builds the station on an aluminium and sheet-metal frame with servo welding heads. Electrode spacing and pressure adjust separately, and a real-time system monitors welding current. When it detects a fault, an alarm cuts the welding circuit. Ask which signals are logged, which limits set off the alarm, and how a pack with a broken-off weld cycle is marked.
The example rate of roughly 2,500–3,000 cells per hour for 18650 comes without a pack layout, joints per cell, strip material, feeding method or inspection step. Use it to size the enquiry, then ask the supplier to quote a rate for your own pack.

Define the joint before talking about speed
Send a drawing of the cell end, the interconnect and the finished pack. Say whether the strip is pure nickel, nickel-plated steel or a layered or plated mix, since a bare thickness figure is not enough. Add the coating, surface condition, thickness tolerance, number of joints, and any zones that must stay clear for fixtures or probes.
Ask for a sample trial with those materials in your cell layout. A clean weld on a demo strip tells you little about the joints deep inside a tightly packed module. Ask the supplier to show how the head reaches every weld point and how the fixture holds cells in position.

Tie the current record to how welds are accepted
A logged current trace covers one part of the weld cycle. Joint strength and resistance still have to be measured. Agree a sampling plan and the destructive and electrical tests that judge each joint, with limits on electrode marks, damage to the cell end and spatter.
Ask for the electrode maintenance schedule, the wear parts and the events that call for requalifying the recipe. Have the machine recover from a fault in front of you: can the cycle restart, which joints are already made, and how does the operator set a rejected pack aside? For a line order, count accepted packs per hour over an agreed run.
Weld resistance can be measured with the four-terminal method used for cells, set out on the cell measurement page.
Run the same nickel strip and cell on the Courage 8000A welders to compare results.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Does the catalogue rate fit your pack? | The page gives 2,500–3,000 cells/hour for 18650 with no joint count or handling stated. | Share the full pack layout and run a sustained trial counting accepted packs. |
| What does the monitoring reject? | The page lists real-time current monitoring and a fault alarm, with no alarm limits or log format. | Ask for the limits, a sample signal log and a deliberately interrupted cycle. |
| Can the electrodes reach every joint? | Electrode spacing and pressure adjust separately. | Weld a witness sample on your full pack drawing and pull-test the joints. |
Equipment questions
Can the same station weld pouch or prismatic packs?
Honsenze's page talks about joining cylindrical steel-shell cells and quotes 18650 for its rate example. Pouch and prismatic cells have different terminals and strip stacks. If you build those, ask for tooling drawings and a sample weld on your own cells.
