Gelon integrated hydraulic calendering and slitting system

Gelon's combined system calenders coated positive or negative electrode hydraulically, slits the pressed web into 2–32 strips and rewinds each strip aligned. The catalogue lists rollers up to 1200 mm in diameter, ±2 µm calendering accuracy, ±0.3 mm slitting accuracy and up to 120 m/min. It targets production lines that want pressing and slitting in one pass.

Pressing, then slitting, on one line

Gelon describes hydraulic calendering of coated positive or negative electrodes to thickness, then slitting into 2–32 strips and aligned rewinding. Combining the two saves handing a full-width roll from a calender to a separate slitter. The table lists a maximum roller diameter of 1200 mm and a top production speed of 120 m/min. Ask for the material, target density and sustained output that go with that speed.

The unwind entry reads maximum unwinding 1100 mm and maximum weight 1800 kg, without saying whether 1100 mm is web width or roll outer diameter. Ask for a roll interface drawing that settles it. Roll heating, rated roll force, power, strip width limits and tooling details are not listed either.

BUYER NOTES

Thickness and density targets

Calendering accuracy is given as ±2 µm with no measuring method, target thickness, positions across the web or run length. Agree those conditions and whether the figure applies to roll control or to the measured finished electrode. Specify the density or porosity you need separately, together with your coating and collector build.

In the trial, examine the electrode after pressing and again after slitting and rewinding. State the coating damage, adhesion and cross-web variation your cell can accept. The catalogue does not say whether an online thickness gauge with feedback is included, so ask what measurement and control equipment comes with the line and how it behaves at top speed.

BUYER NOTES

A lane plan for the slitter and rewind

The 2–32 strip range is the catalogue span; your own lane widths need a knife layout from Gelon. Send the web width, trim allowance and finished strip plan. Slitting accuracy is listed at ±0.3 mm, without a datum or sampling plan. Burr and edge limits are not given, so add the checks your winding or stacking step needs.

Define the rewind reels, tension settings and the roll shape you will accept. A fault at the slitter or rewind can stop the calender too, so watch coordinated stops and restarts on your material. Compare offers on sustained good strip rolls at your thickness. Get the installation drawing and the electrical and auxiliary scope before planning the building, including the meaning of the 1100 mm entry.

Questions that change the purchase

DecisionWhat the catalogue saysNext step
What does the 1100 mm unwinding dimension mean? The table gives 1100 mm without saying width or diameter.Settle it with a roll-interface drawing before checking fit.
What result does ±2 µm describe? The table gives ±2 µm with no target, method or material.Agree finished-electrode sampling and density requirements separately.
Can the connected line meet the slit-roll requirement? The table lists 2–32 strips and ±0.3 mm slitting without a lane plan.Approve tooling, edge quality, reels and coordinated-stop acceptance.
