Gelon inclined pouch pre-sealing and secondary-sealing system
Gelon's combined laboratory sealer handles both the pre-seal and the secondary seal of pouch cells. Cells load at 45°. In secondary mode a needle punctures the gas bag and a flat plate presses the body to push gas out before the final seal. Cells up to 180 ×180 ×10 mm fit, and the unit suits a glovebox thanks to a separate electrical cabinet.
Two modes, with puncture and pressing in the second
Cells sit at 45° when loaded. For the secondary seal, a needle pierces the gas bag and a flat plate presses the cell body to drive gas out. A regulating valve sets head pressure, though no force range is given. Gelon recommends 180°C on the upper and lower heads, with 200°C as the maximum, and a dwell of 3–6 seconds, adjustable anywhere from 0 to 99 seconds. Treat these as starting values for your film trials.
Counting gas bag and tabs, a cell may measure up to 180 ×180 ×10 mm, and the main body must be narrower than 120 mm. Seals can be up to 0.5 mm thick, with a standard width of 6 mm. Check the body width and the overall size against your drawing separately. Electrolyte collection, pressing force and residual gas figures are not listed.

Vacuum supply and the separate control cabinet
The vacuum line reads not less than −90 kPa, adjustable, and the customer supplies the vacuum source. Ask Gelon to state the pressure reference in the signed specification. Pneumatics run on argon or nitrogen at 0.5–0.8 MPa in a glovebox and on compressed air elsewhere. The 2000 W unit is built for AC220 V/50 Hz or AC110 V/60 Hz.
The sealing unit measures about 500 ×460 ×500 mm without its electrical cabinet, which measures about 460 ×200 ×400 mm. Net mass is about 100 kg. Splitting the cabinet off helps with glovebox height. Plan the cables and feedthroughs, support, pump and exhaust, and service access for both parts together.

Test each mode on the right cell
Describe the cell state, laminate, tab area and gas pocket for each mode. Check the positioning, puncture and pressing steps on real cells. A recipe that gives a good first seal still needs its own trial for the final seal after formation. Agree what body pressing should achieve and the force limit your cell can take.
Set seal integrity and any residual gas or leak acceptance, and decide how electrolyte from the puncture is collected and cleaned up. In both modes, interrupt a cycle and recover a rejected pouch. No cycle rate is published for either mode. Handover should supply named fixtures, one recipe per mode and inspection results for each.
Gelon's profile lists the filling machine used before pre-sealing, and the FAT and SAT page explains how a seal is checked on samples. For the second seal alone, the Gelon post-formation degassing sealer is the dedicated machine.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Does the full pouch fit the listed envelope? | The 180 mm limits include bag and tabs, and the body must be narrower than 120 mm. | Check the complete drawing and the inclined fixture. |
| Where do cabinet and customer vacuum belong? | The machine size excludes the separate cabinet, and the customer supplies vacuum. | Approve a whole-system glovebox and utility layout. |
| Are both sealing modes qualified? | The secondary mode adds puncture and pressing on a cell after formation. | Test separate recipes, collection and integrity requirements. |
