SL650 laminated-film and separator slitter

The TOB-SL650 slits battery separator and aluminium-laminated pouch film into narrow rolls. TOB lists cuts from 650 mm down to 8 mm strips, feed rolls up to 600 mm, 80 m/min speed and ±0.1 mm accuracy, with web guiding and magnetic-powder tension control. It suits cell makers converting their own separator or pouch film.

Web, roll and speed limits

TOB lists a maximum slitting size of 650 mm, a minimum of 8 mm, incoming rolls up to 600 mm diameter and rewind rolls up to 450 mm. Speed is 80 m/min and slitting accuracy ±0.1 mm. The machine has photoelectric web guiding, magnetic-powder tension on unwind and rewind, and a variable-frequency main drive.

The footprint is 2,400 × 1,700 × 1,300 mm, weight 1,000 kg and power 2.2 kW on AC220 V. Ask whether 650 mm is the usable incoming web width for your configuration and whether the 8 mm minimum strip changes with blade type or material. Ask too how the ±0.1 mm figure was measured and on which material.

BUYER NOTES

Separator and pouch film need different trials

For separator, give the thickness, coating, expected tensile behaviour and the edge quality your cell design needs. Ask for an inspection of particles, folds and edge defects after rewinding. For pouch laminate, give the full laminate build, the seal-layer condition and how the surfaces must be protected; check for scratches, delamination and handling marks.

The two materials usually need different blades and tension settings. Ask for the blade setup, adjustment method, cleaning routine and a changeover sample. If you need cleanroom use or a contamination limit for separator, ask TOB to confirm it in writing.

BUYER NOTES

Judge the finished roll

Write an incoming roll specification with core size, width, diameter, splices and edge condition. State the finished strip widths, number of lanes, target rewind diameter and the winding defects you will accept. Run the beginning and end of a representative roll in the trial, because tension needs change as the roll diameter changes.

Agree where width is measured and how edges are inspected. Count accepted output after loading, setup, splices and rewind changes. Ask for the web-force range, static control and guarding on the machine you buy. Fragile or coated separator may need a lower speed than the 80 m/min maximum to keep its edges clean.

Separator slit here is used in the winding and stacking step that builds the cell core.

Which material will you slit? The catalogue lists both pouch laminate and separator.Give the exact construction and run a separate trial for each material.
Do your incoming and finished rolls fit?The catalogue gives 600 mm feed and 450 mm rewind diameters with no core schedule.Confirm core sizes, lane count and finished-roll drawings for the supplied shafts.
At what speed does accuracy hold? The catalogue lists ±0.1 mm and 80 m/min without test conditions.Set width, edge and rewind acceptance at your sustained speed.

Equipment questions

Is this the same as TOB's electrode slitter?

No. TOB lists the SL650 for pouch laminate film and battery separator, separately from its electrode slitters. Coated electrode foil needs its own blades and its own particle and edge tests, so choose an electrode slitter for that job.
