FT-500 laboratory electrode slitting machine
The TOB-FT-500 cuts battery electrode material with a pair of upper and lower round knives. TOB lists a 20–500 mm slitting width, material thickness of 100–300 µm and speeds up to 10 m/min. It is a compact 200 kg machine. It suits labs cutting coated foil into strips for cell assembly.

Knives, width, thickness and speed
TOB lists single-knife hobbing with upper and lower round knives and an 80 mm hob diameter. The slitting width range is 20–500 mm; ask whether that refers to the incoming web, the finished strip or the knife position, and send your cut layout.
Material thickness is 100–300 µm and speed adjusts up to 10 m/min. The machine uses 800 W, measures 610 × 610 × 1,100 mm and weighs 200 kg. Check the thickness range against the exact foil and coating you will run in the trial.

Start from the edge you need
Describe the current collector, coating thickness, how brittle the coating is and the strip edges you need. Ask how knife overlap, clearance and blade condition are set and checked. The strip width says nothing about whether the edge is good enough for the next assembly step.
Agree how burrs, edge particles, coating loss and width variation will be inspected on labelled samples. Keep good and rejected cuts when comparing knife setups. TOB describes clean cutting in words, so set your own measurable burr limit.

Feeding and collection
Ask whether the machine takes sheets, a web or both, and which feed and collection accessories come with it. Controlled unwinding, rewinding and dust extraction may be separate items, so list the ones you need.
In the demonstration, run your material at the planned speed and inspect start-up, steady running and the last section. Note any manual handling, wrinkles or tracking corrections, and count useful strips; the speed setting alone does not tell you the output.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Can it cut your strip layout? | The catalogue gives 20–500 mm width with single-knife hobbing. | Send incoming width and cut positions and get a confirmed knife layout. |
| What edge is good enough for assembly? | The catalogue gives no burr or particle figure. | Agree edge inspection and samples before the cutting trial. |
| Which handling items are included? | The catalogue lists cutting speed without unwind, collection or extraction details. | List the full feed-to-collection path and note manual work in the demonstration. |
Equipment questions
Does 100–300 µm mean bare foil or coated electrode?
TOB's table gives 100–300 µm without a material cross-section. Ask the supplier whether the range covers the full coated electrode, and which coating and collector were used in its own demonstration.
