Gelon three-station servo electrode winding machine

Gelon's automatic winder for cylindrical cells runs three needles at three coordinated stations. Closed-loop servo control sets tension on the positive electrode, negative electrode and separator, winding is controlled turn by turn to limit deformation, and a PLC screen shows where a fault occurred. It suits production cylindrical lines, with cell sizes set by the tooling ordered.

Three needles and servo-tensioned feeds

Gelon describes three needles working at coordinated stations. Tension on the positive electrode, negative electrode and separator runs under closed-loop servo control. Winding is controlled turn by turn to reduce deformation, and a PLC display points to the location of any fault.

Tension range, winding speed, needle geometry and finished core size are not given. Gelon files the machine under cylindrical production and describes it for digital lithium cells in general terms, so ask for a configuration drawing for your can format. Ask too which operations overlap across the three stations and which one limits the cycle, so you can estimate output.

BUYER NOTES

Tension window for your strip

Electrode stiffness, coating adhesion and separator stretch all shape the usable winding settings. Send the strip widths, coating pattern, collector thickness and separator build. Ask how each feed measures tension and how it behaves as roll diameter changes, during acceleration and through a controlled stop. Ask also which tension sensors and splice method are supplied.

Check edge registration and separator overhang on cores taken from across a long run. Agree an inspection method and sample points that separate a startup problem from slow drift. Gelon describes the control as limiting deformation; a demonstration on your material shows how well it does so.

BUYER NOTES

Station handoff and fault recovery

Send the core drawing and define the needle extraction and unloading result you accept. Moving a core between stations can change its shape or registration even when steady winding looks fine. Ask the supplier which steps happen at each station and how each part stays linked to its recipe as the needles index. Tabs and end tape are not covered on the page, so write any orientation or taping needs into the order.

The fault display helps only if the operator can safely recover the right part and strip position. In a witnessed test, cut a feed, trigger a tension alarm and restart. Agree whether an interrupted core is scrapped or finished and which parameters are logged. Compare machines on good cores per hour.
