Gelon electrode separator-envelope making machine
Gelon's electrode pouch-making machine wraps each electrode between an upper and lower separator layer and seals the edges into an envelope ready for stacking. It uses active separator unwinding with tension control, EPC at ±0.5 mm and dust extraction in the magazine. Gelon lists 2–4 seconds per piece and seal times of 0.1–1 second. It suits bag-stacked cell designs.
Alignment and separator handling
Gelon lists EPC accuracy of ±0.5 mm, upper and lower separator end-face alignment of ±0.3 mm and anode to separator centre deviation of ±0.5 mm. The separator unwinds actively under tension control, and a dust extraction unit is built into the magazine. The machine measures 2400 ×1200 ×2000 mm.
Sealing time runs from 0.1 to 1 second and output is 2–4 seconds per piece. Seal temperature and pressure, electrode size, separator material, edge overlap and the meaning of a piece are not given. The pouch here is a separator envelope around the electrode; outer cell packaging in aluminium laminate is formed on other machines. Ask for a drawing of feed, wrapping, sealing and discharge.

A sealed envelope that still works as a separator
Send electrode geometry, coating and separator build, with the overhang and seal positions you want. Agree the sealing method and how much the separator may change at the seal. Seal time is only one setting, and Gelon gives no seal strength, heat effect or material compatibility results. Check finished envelopes for alignment, coverage and whatever your stacking step needs.
Ask for the datum behind each of the three alignment values. EPC controls the web position, while finished envelope tolerance is measured on the part. Inspect envelopes after they leave the fixture, where separator movement or edge distortion can show. Ask how electrodes at the edge of the size range are supported, and request positioning figures to back the precision claim.

Dust extraction and the full cycle
Gelon places dust extraction in the magazine but lists no airflow, filter or cleanliness limit. Ask what particles it catches and whether the suction can disturb thin separator or electrode pickup. Set an incoming material spec and a cleanliness test for finished envelopes.
Break the 2–4 second figure down into loading, sealing, reject handling and unloading; the seal itself is a short part of it. In the trial, include a misplaced electrode, a separator registration fault and an interrupted cycle. Agree how finished envelopes are identified and oriented for stacking, and keep rejects out of the good magazine.
Gelon's profile lists the stackers that use these envelopes.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| What pouch is actually being made? | The page lists upper and lower separator and electrode alignment figures. | Approve a separator-envelope process drawing. |
| Will the seal preserve separator performance? | The page lists sealing time only. | Qualify the sealed envelope on your separator. |
| Does the piece rate include the entire process? | The page gives 2–4 s/piece and a 0.1–1 s seal step. | Witness loading through accepted discharge and reject handling. |
