Gelon narrow-strip small-cylinder semi-automatic winder
Gelon's semi-automatic winder makes very small cylindrical cores from narrow strip: electrodes 3–8 mm wide and 40–500 mm long, separator 4–10 mm wide. The operator feeds in electrodes and separator, and the machine winds on a 2.0 mm needle, or a custom one from 1.2 to 5.0 mm, then tapes and unloads the core. It suits miniature cell work.
Narrow strip and small needles
Gelon lists electrode width of 3–8 mm, separator width of 4–10 mm and electrode length of 40–500 mm. The standard needle is 2.0 mm, and a customer-specified needle within 1.2–5.0 mm is available. Needle size sets the core bore, so check the finished can diameter on your own drawing. Power is 220 V single-phase, 1 kW, and gas is printed as 5–7 kgf/cm² at 280 L/min.
The operator guides positive and negative electrodes into the winding section, adds the separator, and the machine winds to the set process. Finishing tape goes on automatically and the core unloads automatically. Winding rate, tension range, tab layout and reel limits are not listed. Include hand loading time in any rate comparison.

Alignment on your strip and core
Gelon gives alignment error of less than ±0.3 mm between separator and negative electrode and between negative and positive electrodes. Ask for an inspection drawing that shows how this is measured and in which direction. Set the separator overhang you need and measure registration once the core is off the needle.
Send strip thickness, coating build, stiffness and core geometry. Ask for the needle shape and the extraction method for your option, and how tension is controlled, since the page gives no tension details. Narrow strip can twist or crease, so check the start, the wound body and the unloaded core on real material.

Hand loading, tape and unloading
Because the operator starts each core, the start position can vary from part to part. Agree locating aids, the operating procedure and first-off checks, then test repeatability over many cores. Plan the demonstration around a long run of hand-loaded cores. If your cell needs a set tab orientation, ask how it is achieved, as tab handling is not described.
Specify finishing tape width, length and position and the shape of the unloaded core. Include a misloaded strip and a controlled stop in the demonstration so that reject and recovery rules are clear. Ask Gelon to confirm the 280 L/min gas figure, the pressure range and the conditions behind them so you can size the site air supply.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Does the material fit this narrow-strip application? | The page lists electrode width of 3–8 mm and separator width of 4–10 mm. | Check your strip and core drawings against these widths. |
| Which needle is delivered? | The page lists a 2 mm standard needle and a 1.2–5 mm custom range. | Approve needle geometry and extraction on the chosen core. |
| Can manual starts remain repeatable? | The page describes manual strip feeding with automatic tape and unloading. | Witness repeated loading and finished-core registration. |
