Gelon lithium-sulfur Z-fold CCD stacking machine
Gelon's lithium-sulfur stacker is a desktop-frame Z-fold machine. A motor shuttles the separator left and right under automatic constant tension while a CCD checks and positions each sheet. Gelon lists 3–5 seconds per piece on one station, 20–30 seconds of ancillary time and ±0.3 mm adjacent alignment. It serves lithium-sulfur pouch cell development and pilot lines.
Separator motion, tension and CCD
The machine sits on a desktop frame. A motor drives the separator left and right to form the Z fold, and the separator roll runs under automatic constant tension. A CCD handles defect detection and positioning. Gelon names lithium-sulfur cells as the use but lists no electrode size, separator build, layer count or handling setup.
The catalogue gives electrode to separator centre deviation of ±0.5 mm, separator end-to-face accuracy of ±0.5 mm, adjacent electrode alignment of ±0.3 mm and overall electrode alignment of ±0.5 mm. Each refers to a different feature, so ask for a marked inspection drawing and an explanation of the separator end-to-face term.
| Parameter | Published value | Record status |
|---|---|---|
| Published single-station cycle; piece undefined | 3–5 s/piece | known |
| Listed ancillary time | 20–30 s | known |
| Stated adjacent-electrode alignment | ±0.3 mm | known |
| Stated overall electrode alignment | ±0.5 mm | known |
Catalogue values apply to the configuration and test method the maker states. Ask for the values that apply to your configuration.

Adding up piece time and ancillary time
Single-station stacking runs at 3.0–5 seconds per piece, and ancillary time is 20–30 seconds. The catalogue does not say whether a piece is one sheet, another transfer step or a whole stack. Ask the supplier to lay out the timing for your build, with layer count, separator cut and unloading included, before you estimate cells per hour.
Agree the output and availability basis for your electrode and separator. Count loading, inspection rejects and ancillary steps during a witnessed run. Gelon publishes no yield or output on lithium-sulfur material, so settle the counting basis in writing first.

Detection and handling on your material
The CCD is listed without defect classes, optical limits or a reject route. Bring samples of the faults you need caught and find out which ones the system sees. Polarity order and separator coverage on every layer need their own checks besides positioning.
Send collector and separator properties, the overhang and the stack thickness you need. Ask Gelon to show pickup, holding and stack removal with no unacceptable deformation or sticking. Set lithium-metal handling conditions from your own process. Inspect the stack after unloading and after a controlled stop, when holding and registration can differ from steady running.
The stacked cells move on to the Gelon lithium-sulfur tab joining line.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| What is a piece in the cycle statement? | The page lists 3–5 s/piece and 20–30 s ancillary time with no build definition. | Map every timed step to your layer count. |
| Which alignment datum controls the finished stack? | The page lists adjacent, overall and separator-related figures. | Approve a marked inspection drawing and measure after unloading. |
| Can the CCD see the relevant defects? | The page lists CCD detection without defect classes. | Test known defect samples and confirm the reject response. |
