Gelon lithium-sulfur pouch-cell tab joining line
Gelon's automatic tab line works on stacked lithium-sulfur pouch cells between the stacker and the top and side sealer. It positions the stack, pre-welds, feeds and welds positive and negative tabs, tests and shapes them, removes dust, applies insulation tape to both polarities and sorts good from bad cells. It suits pilot and production lithium-sulfur pouch assembly.
The station sequence from stack to sealer
The line feeds and positions a stacked cell, does pre-welding of the tabs, feeds positive and negative tabs for welding, tests, shapes and dusts them, applies adhesive or insulation to both polarities, and separates OK and NG cells. Joined cells then move to top and side sealing. Use this list to check which tab steps are in the quotation.
Gelon does not say whether the joints are ultrasonic, resistance or laser, and gives no tab thickness, collector stack, weld recipe or pass limit. Ask the supplier for a station layout and a signed description of the joining method for each polarity. No model number or cycle rate is listed.
| Parameter | Published value | Record status |
|---|---|---|
| Incoming process | Completed pouch-cell stacking | known |
| Outgoing process | Top and side sealing | known |
| Listed sorting | OK and NG separation | known |
Catalogue values apply to the configuration and test method the maker states. Ask for the values that apply to your configuration.

Trial with your own collector and tabs
Send the positive and negative collector builds, tab alloys, layer count and the state of the stacked core. Gelon groups the line under lithium-sulfur cells, so check fit with your particular lithium-metal design. Agree handling, support and environmental conditions from your process specification together with the setup Gelon has proven.
Set separate joint tests for each polarity, electrical and mechanical as needed. The testing station is named without an instrument or method. Ask how the tooling contacts the collector stack and how the pre-weld differs from the final joint. Inspect the finished part after shaping and taping, since those steps can disturb a joint that looked fine at first.

The part handed to the sealer
Dust removal and tab tape are both listed. Define particle removal and collection, tape position and the tab shape the sealing fixture expects, since no cleanliness limit or tape material is given. Gelon should show that the full sequence keeps polarity clear and protects the stack while preparing the seal area.
During acceptance, run a bad joint and an interrupted cycle through the agreed recovery route. Use known bad samples and written limits to judge how well OK and NG sorting catches defects. For the handoff to sealing, approve tray orientation, tab position and results linked to each cell. Measure sustained good output over the whole sequence.
Stacks for this line come from the Gelon lithium-sulfur Z-fold stacker.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which welding technology is offered for each polarity? | The page says welding without naming the energy source. | Get the method, tooling and material-specific qualification. |
| What does the testing operation accept? | The page lists a test step with no electrical or mechanical method. | Agree joint limits and show known bad parts being caught. |
| Will the sealing station receive the required geometry? | The page lists shaping, dusting, insulation and transfer after joining. | Inspect the outgoing part against the sealer interface drawing. |
