Gelon GN-CC20 manual coin-cell crimping and disassembly press

The Gelon GN-CC20 is a manual hydraulic press that crimps and dismantles coin cells, supplied with standard CR2032 crimping and disassembly dies. Pressure adjusts from 50 to 100 kg/cm², the stroke is about 30 mm, and a CR2032 cell takes about 60 seconds. At 29 kg it fits on a bench or inside a glovebox for laboratory cell building.

PUBLISHED REFERENCE

One press, two die sets

Gelon lists a hydraulic structure, a stroke of about 30 mm and crimping pressure adjustable from 50 to 100 kg/cm² as printed. CR2032 crimping and dismantling dies are standard and other formats are made to order. Ask whether the pressure figure is a gauge reading or another reference, because the force on the coin cell rim will differ.

The reference rate is 60 seconds per piece for CR2032 by hand. The press measures about 265 ×320 ×400 mm and weighs 29 kg net. Gelon says it can work inside a glovebox, so check that your glovebox has room for operation and transfer; the glovebox itself is sold separately. If you need another coin size, list those dies in the quotation.

BUYER NOTES

Prove the seal on your own cell build

Send the case, gasket, electrode and separator, spacer and spring, and electrolyte you use, with the stack height and final geometry you want. Agree the loading datum and how the die supports the case. Gelon publishes no rim deformation, seal strength or leak figure for a build like yours. Components sold under the CR20 size label vary, so a factory setting needs checking on your parts.

Measure the closed cell dimensions and apply the sealing standard your test programme needs. Set any leak or insulation test as its own step. Repeat the hand-loaded sequence with real internal stacks as well as empty cases, and calibrate the pressure reading against cells you accept.

BUYER NOTES

Dismantling needs its own method

Cells come back for dismantling in many states, so the standard disassembly die may need different settings or handling for each. Ask Gelon for its operating procedure and write your own safe handling rules. The press has no automatic die recognition or protection against a wrong die setup.

Watch a die change, a first crimp and an interrupted stroke. Plan support, reach and maintenance inside the glovebox. When comparing presses, time the whole manual cycle with loading and inspection. Handover should cover both dies, the calibrated crimp recipe and separate dismantling instructions.

Coin cells are a laboratory step in cell assembly; once crimped they are cycled on a small tester such as the NEWARE CT-4008Q, and the battery tester page explains how to choose its ranges. The acceptance testing page covers checking a crimp before relying on results.

Still to confirm

  • Whether 50–100 kg/cm² is a gauge reading, and its calibration against the force at the rim.
  • Seal quality and leak performance on your case, gasket and internal stack.
  • Which dies are included for formats other than CR2032.
