Gelon digital integrated ultrasonic joining system
Gelon's integrated ultrasonic welder joins battery tabs and collectors under digital control. It offers time, energy, continuous and segmented welding modes, shows frequency, amplitude, power and energy on screen, uses energy feedback, and has an RS485 port that Gelon says can link to MES. It suits tab joining where a buyer wants process data per weld.
Welding modes and on-screen values
The controller offers time, energy, continuous and segmented welding modes. The screen shows the mode, operation counts, frequency, amplitude, power, energy, working air pressure and cylinder stroke. Gelon also describes energy feedback and real-time monitoring of weld quality. Rated frequency and power, horn geometry, force range, tab material, thickness and stack limits are not listed.
Ask which displayed values are measured, which are set points and which are calculated, how each is logged, and which limits stop or reject a weld. Gelon describes the welds as strong in general terms, so check joint capability on your own collector stack.
| Parameter | Published value | Record status |
|---|---|---|
| Named control modes | Time / energy / continuous / segmented | known |
| Listed communication interface | RS485 | known |
| Displayed feedback examples | Frequency, amplitude, power and energy | known |
Catalogue values apply to the configuration and test method the maker states. Ask for the values that apply to your configuration.

Pair signal limits with pull and resistance tests
Send the collector and tab materials, layer count, overlap and the joint drawing. Agree horn and anvil tooling, support and the contact pattern for that stack. Compare the control modes on sample joints tested against your mechanical and electrical requirements in a trial.
Check whether energy and the other signals actually move when the faults you care about occur. A weld can hit its energy target and still be weak or high in resistance. Where you can, supply weak, misplaced or otherwise bad samples and see how the alarm and reject respond. Make tool wear and maintenance limits part of the agreed operating window.

From an RS485 port to a working MES link
Gelon names a 485 communication interface and says it can connect to MES. Protocol, field list, part identifier and timestamp handling are not described. Request the interface specification and run a data exchange with your own system before you count it as integrated.
The page gives no dimensions or utilities, so agree the stand, actuator, tooling, air supply and guarding in the scope. A witnessed run should cover a normal joint, a weld outside limits, an interrupted cycle and recovery, with each part record still correct. Aim to buy a qualified joint process with reliable records behind it.
Joint quality shows up as tab resistance, which the cell measurement page explains, and the page on factory and site acceptance covers pull tests on sample joints. The Gelon integrated tab welding and winding machine uses the same joining method inside a winder.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Does the welder suit the actual tab stack? | The page lists no materials, thickness, frequency or power. | Qualify tooling and joints on representative materials. |
| What does quality monitoring detect? | The page names energy feedback and monitoring without reject limits. | Match signals against physical tests and known bad joints. |
| Is MES connection commissioned? | The page lists an RS485 interface with no protocol. | Check fields, identifiers and a live data exchange. |
