Gelon continuous tension-controlled electrode slitting machine
Gelon's continuous slitter cuts electrode up to 180 mm wide and 0.06–0.3 mm thick. It pairs a constant-tension unwind with edge-position correction, interchangeable cutter modules and tension-controlled rewinding. Cutting runs at 0–50 m/min and listed burr limits are below 7 µm and 10 µm. It fits narrow-web strip production.
Unwind, cutters and rewind
Gelon lists a maximum material width of 180 mm and a thickness of 0.06–0.3 mm. The unwind runs at adjustable constant tension with edge-position correction. The rewind uses a slip-frequency shaft with constant or taper tension and tracking. Cutter modules are interchangeable and extra modules are an option. The page mentions French unwind tension equipment without naming the brand, so ask which component is fitted.
The mechanical top speed is 60 m/min, and the cutting range is 0–50 m/min. Power is 5 kW and the footprint is 2000 ×1900 ×2500 mm. Roll diameters, lane count, minimum slit width and tension ranges are not given, so request the roll and knife layout for your strip plan.

How to measure burr and straightness
The table gives longitudinal metal burr below 7 µm and transverse metal burr below 10 µm. Agree the edge direction, the instrument, the sampling points and the material state for each limit. Check both collector protrusion and coating condition at the edge, to the standard your next process needs.
The table also lists waviness of ±0.5 mm per 1000 mm, horizontal correction of ±0.5 mm and slicing accuracy of ±0.15 mm. Ask which physical datum each figure controls, since the correction value and the finished strip width tolerance can differ. Measure width, edge form and winding alignment on rolls cut during a normal production run.

Keep the roll consistent from core to full diameter
Send your collector and coating build, finished lane widths and required reel sizes. Agree tension settings for startup, steady running and the growing rewind diameter, because the catalogue gives no tension window. Include a stop and restart and look for loose wraps, telescoping or local damage.
For tool-change acceptance, set the module datum, the strip width check and the wear point that calls for a blade change. Ask whether the optional cutter modules are in the base price. Define trim-waste collection, cleaning access and sampling over an agreed run. Compare offers on sustained accepted rolls cut from the same material and inspected the same way.
Slit strips go on to winding, for example on the Gelon three-station servo winder, and the winding throughput page explains how strip length and core size set the rate there.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which speed applies during cutting? | The mechanical maximum is 60 m/min and cutting is listed at 0–50 m/min. | Qualify a working speed that gives good edges and finished rolls. |
| How are the two burr limits measured? | Longitudinal burr is listed below 7 µm and transverse below 10 µm. | Agree edge directions, instrument and sampling on your material. |
| Does the rewind suit the strip plan? | The page describes the tension system but gives no roll or lane limits. | Approve knife layout, reel sizes and full-roll winding conditions. |
