Geesun GWDL/GWFL laser tab-forming and slitting family

Geesun's GWDL and GWFL laser-cut tabs along calendered electrode rolls and then slit each roll into two lanes with a blade. GWDL takes 120–500 mm rolls at ≥120 m/min, and GWFL takes 150–600 mm rolls at ≥90 m/min. Both list tabs up to 35 mm high and a heat-affected zone of ≤80 µm.

Roll widths, cutting speed and tab limits

Geesun lists GWDL for incoming widths of 120–500 mm and GWFL for 150–600 mm, both with 0.2 mm width tolerance. Each takes rolls up to 700 mm in diameter on a 3- or 6-inch core. The table gives a laser cutting speed of ≥120 m/min for GWDL and ≥90 m/min for GWFL. The introduction mentions 120–200/min with unclear units, so ask Geesun to state the speed for your chosen model and material.

Both models list tab height ≤35 mm and a heat-affected zone ≤80 µm. Another row, labelled 范材区切割/分条质量, gives ≤7 µm in the lengthwise direction. Ask whether that figure is burr height or a different edge measure, and how it is measured. The introduction also gives tab-pitch accuracy of ≤±0.1 mm; ask for the sampling method and material behind it.

BUYER NOTES

Laser tab cutting and blade slitting each need their own checks

The machine combines laser tab forming with mechanical slitting. Send the collector and coating build, tab pitch and shape, lane-width drawing and edge-quality limits. Ask how the heat-affected zone is measured, how tabs are inspected and what the 7 µm lengthwise row covers. Write the agreed measuring method into the contract with any burr limit.

Geesun describes variable tab cutting, automatic lane separation and closed-loop slit-width detection. Ask what adjusts automatically, who can approve recipe changes and which tolerances hold during acceleration or after a splice. Width control covers one dimension; check the laser-cut tab and the slit edge against your own defect limits as well.

BUYER NOTES

Dust control, inspection and the sample run

Geesun describes system dust extraction, no build-up in the cutting zone and online checks of electrode and tab quality and size. The page gives no contamination limit, extraction capacity or detector coverage and false-reject rate. Ask for the extraction and collection layout, the inspection points and the reject sequence, including the path for material bound for cell cores. Geesun also mentions cutting with no waste edge; check that against your tab pattern and nesting.

Plan a trial with your coated electrode at the quoted speed and collect samples through the run, stops and changeovers. Agree limits for tab shape, registration, heat-affected zone, edge defects and cleanliness, together with good material output. At handover, record the model supplied, laser and blade consumables, calibrated inspection references, recipe backup and lock-out procedures for the laser and the blades. Cell yield follows later, from your own line.

Still to confirm

  • The cutting speed for your model and material, given the unclear 120–200/min wording.
  • What the ≤7 µm lengthwise quality row measures and how.
  • Laser power and the materials the machine has been set up to cut.
  • Detector coverage and the dust and particle limits Geesun will accept.
