WinAck SA100S Z-fold electrode stacking station

The WinAck SA100S takes anode and cathode sheets from cassettes, positions each one and Z-folds a rolled separator between them. It builds stacks 30–100 mm wide and 5–25 mm thick for pouch and small prismatic cells. A few speed, alignment and separator figures differ between the feature list and the table, so settle them in the quote.

Sheet sizes, stack sizes and cassette feeding

Electrodes can be 30–100 mm wide and 70–190 mm long, tabs excluded. Anodes run 100–280 µm thick and cathodes 80–280 µm. Finished stacks measure 30–100 mm wide, 74–196 mm long and 5–25 mm thick, and the number of layers is whatever fits inside that thickness.

WinAck describes two incoming cassettes per electrode with automatic switching, positioning modules, servo stacking and a spring-type press. Agree how cassettes are refilled, how each pickup is checked and what happens with a double or missing sheet. Exposed tabs go up to 30 mm and normally face the same way, with other layouts built to order. Have the tooling drawn for your tab position and stack shape.

BUYER NOTES

Separator width and alignment figures to settle

The table gives separator width as 10–50 mm, while electrodes can be as wide as 100 mm. Ask WinAck to correct the separator width and state the overhang and web path for your stack. Separator thickness is 16–45 µm, on a 76.2 mm core with rolls up to 250 mm in diameter.

The feature list quotes overall electrode alignment within ±0.3 mm, and the detailed table gives ±0.40 mm for all electrodes. Adjacent electrodes align within ±0.25 mm, and electrode-to-separator and separator end faces within ±0.30 mm. Write each of these into the stack drawing with its own measuring reference, and include the cumulative offset once every layer is in place.

BUYER NOTES

Layer time, finished stacks and cleanliness

Layer time is 1.2–1.6 seconds/layer in the feature list and 1.3–1.6 seconds/layer in the table. Ask which applies to the machine you buy. WinAck also lists at least 95% utilisation and 98% yield. Measure output as good finished stacks, with cassette refills, separator taping and inspection counted in.

An ion fan, vacuum dust removal at the positioning stage and an outer cover help keep sheets clean. After a representative trial run, inspect sheet surfaces, separator wrinkles, edge particles and layer alignment. Power is 220 V ±10%, 50 Hz, 2000 W, with air at 0.5–0.7 MPa, and the machine measures 1400 ×1080 ×1800 mm. Check that dust extraction, separator cutting and stack transfer are all in the scope of supply.

WinAck's profile also lists a sheet-fed winder, the other route for cells of this size, and the sheets for this stacker come from a die cutter such as the WinAck EC-A350.

Still to confirm

  • The correct separator width and overhang for your widest electrode.
  • Which layer time and which whole-stack alignment figure apply to the delivered machine.
  • Particle, wrinkle and separator-damage results from a trial on your sheets.
  • Good finished stacks per hour including refills, taping and inspection.
