Electric CR20XX coin-cell crimping station

TMAX's electric CR20XX crimper seals coin cells with a 24 V DC geared motor under touchscreen control, behind a plexiglass shield with a safety interlock. It ships with CR2032, CR2025 and CR2016 dies, weighs 32 kg and is sized to pass a 360 mm glovebox antechamber for laboratory cell assembly.

Geared motor, touchscreen and an interlocked shield

The table lists a 110–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz supply driving a 24 V DC geared motor rated at 20 W. The unit measures 250 × 150 × 450 mm and weighs 32 kg net. A plexiglass shield with a safety interlock encloses the working area. Ask for a demonstration that opening the shield stops or blocks the press stroke.

TMAX lists assembling dies for CR2032, CR2025 and CR2016, and offers CR2325 and CR2450 dies on request. The feature text also mentions disassembling CR20-series cells. List assembly dies and any disassembly dies as separate lines in the quotation so you know which tools arrive.

BUYER NOTES

What the 800 kg preset means

TMAX says the sealing pressure is preset to about 800 kg before shipping, and a knob on top adjusts it for the negative cap. A figure in kilograms is a force. Pressure on the cell depends on the contact area, so ask the supplier what the 800 kg refers to and how it relates to your case.

The maintenance notes warn that over-tightening the knob can damage the spring-loaded PTFE die. Ask for the adjustment procedure for your configuration, and ask TMAX to set it up on your case and gasket. The factory preset is a starting point that you then tune to your stack thickness.

BUYER NOTES

Getting it into the glovebox and working around it

TMAX says the machine passes through a 360 mm antechamber. Inside the box you also need a route to carry it, a firm base, room for the shield to open and space to load cells and turn the knob. Check all of this on your glovebox drawing instead of comparing the antechamber diameter alone.

Ask for a crimping trial on your cases that records finished height, cap deformation and seal quality. Request cleaning and die inspection steps that suit your electrolyte, and a list of spare parts. The website shows a CE mark, so ask TMAX for the matching declaration, and inspect the interlock on the machine as delivered.

Equipment questions

Does electric crimping mean automatic cell handling?

No. The motor drives the press and the touchscreen runs it, but there is no automatic loading or unloading. An operator places each case, removes the sealed cell and checks it. Ask for a separate handling system in writing if you need one.
