Kejing MSK-AFA-SD300 laboratory slot-die coater

The Kejing MSK-AFA-SD300 is a lab roll-to-roll slot-die coater for electrodes, running continuous or intermittent patterns up to 260 mm wide. Kejing gives a graphite reference recipe at 0.3 m/min and dry loading tolerances of ±1.2% or ±1.5 g/m². It suits labs making single-side and two-side electrode rolls.

Widths, speed and the graphite example

Kejing lists 300 mm guide rolls, substrates up to 280 mm and a die coating width of up to 260 mm. Mechanical speed is 0.01–1.0 m/min. The reference coating speed is 0.3 m/min for graphite slurry at 2000 mPa·s, 45% solids and 90 µm dry thickness. Plan new recipes from that 0.3 m/min point; 1.0 m/min is the mechanical ceiling.

Single-side dry thickness runs 30–150 µm continuous and 30–100 µm intermittent, depending on the slurry. The die uses a shim opening chosen by the customer. Manual adjustment shows a 1 µm display step, which is a readout resolution; coating accuracy comes from your trial. The supply includes an MSK-156 slurry feed device, and solvent treatment is optional.

BUYER NOTES

Loading tolerance depends on the loading level

At loadings of 100 g/m² or more, Kejing states a deviation limit of ±1.2%. Below 100 g/m² it states ±1.5 g/m² in absolute terms, which is a larger percentage at low loading. Both figures leave out the collector mass and abnormal edge areas and assume Kejing's sampling method, so ask for that method in writing.

Agree substrate quality, shim, flow and pressure conditions, and a sample map for dry loading and thickness. If you need the coated edge or the intermittent start and stop areas in your product, put them in the sample map. Kejing lists two-side alignment along the web at ±0.5 mm; agree how the second pass is made before relying on that figure.

BUYER NOTES

Feed, oven and the drying end point

The standard oven is one 0.8 m hot-air section reaching 150°C, with ±5°C air uniformity at working positions away from the ends. Define air and solvent handling and the electrode temperature or residual solvent target. A stable die and web are only half the job; the electrode must also be dry enough to press.

Trial representative slurry and record flow, speed, shim and oven settings, then repeat after a planned restart. Check die cleaning, slurry held up in the feed, roll guiding and the 60 N tension limit against your foil. Handover should list the installed feed hardware, pump and treatment options, and calibration and adjustment steps. The catalogue tolerances carry the exclusions above, so set your own acceptance figures from your coating trial.

Kejing's profile lists the mixers and calenders around this coater, and the electrode drying page explains what happens to the coated roll before assembly.
