Kejing MC400 multi-route coating platform and compact microgravure option
The Kejing MSK-AFA-MC400 is a pilot coating line that can run doctor blade, transfer, slot-die, casting and microgravure heads, coating 50–360 mm wide. The compact MSK-AFA-MG200 is a separate machine set up for microgravure only, coating up to 160 mm. Both suit process development where a lab compares coating methods.

MC400 heads and the compact MG200
Kejing describes the MC400 with doctor, transfer, slot-die, casting and microgravure routes; some heads are options, so ask for the list of heads and the web path you will receive. It takes substrates up to 380 mm, coats 50–360 mm wide, runs to a mechanical maximum of 5 m/min and has three 1.5 m hot-air sections. It needs about 30 kW on three-phase 380 V. Solvent treatment and feed systems are optional.
Kejing's 2 m/min examples for several routes use graphite at 2000 cP, 45% solids and 90 µm dry thickness; the 4 m/min microgravure example uses a ceramic slurry. The MG200 runs continuous microgravure on substrates up to 180 mm with a 160 mm coat, a 30 mm engraved roller chosen by the customer and one 0.5 m hot-air section up to 130°C. Width and oven figures belong to each machine separately.

Catalogue values apply to the configuration and test method the maker states. Ask for the values that apply to your configuration.
Each coating method has its own tolerance
The MC400 table gives separate thickness and loading figures for each method. Standard slot-die runs 50–160 µm dry, with thickness precision of ≤±2 µm and loading within ≤±1%; doctor and transfer heads have their own limits. Kejing's loading figures include the substrate mass and leave out abnormal edges. The SD300 page states loading with foil excluded, so convert to the same basis before comparing the two machines.
Define the route, slurry, substrate, head and tool geometry and the sample areas you will accept. Agree how dry mass and thickness are calculated and how edges, starts and stops are treated. For microgravure, choose engraved-roll parameters for your thin, low-viscosity layer, then trial wetting, streaks and the drying end point on your own material.
Switching methods means new setup and cleaning
Ask for the changeover steps, web path, feed volume and recipe for each head you buy. Log the head or roller identity and the trial conditions with each sample. Ask how long a change takes, which tools it needs and how much slurry is lost each time.
The published MC400 is about 6.7 m long and weighs about two tonnes. Check the lab footprint, power and exhaust capacity and maintenance space against current drawings. Watch your chosen method run on representative material, and repeat the trial for each further route you plan to accept. Handover should cover cleaning, tool wear, calibration, solvent handling and an output definition for each configuration. Kejing gives no yield figure across methods and no cell results, and coating width and drying need confirming per head.
Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which heads are actually included? | The catalogue lists five routes, some as purchasable options. | Approve a written head and tool schedule and web path. |
| Are loading tolerances on the same basis? | MC400 loading includes substrate mass and leaves out abnormal edges. | Fix the calculation and sample areas before comparing results. |
| Does each route need its own trial? | The catalogue ties each speed and precision figure to one method and material. | Trial every route you buy and record settings and samples. |
