Gelon PLC gap-tracked intermittent electrode cutter
Gelon's intermittent electrode cutter tracks the uncoated gaps between coated patches and cuts each piece to a length set on an English-language PLC screen, using a pneumatic cutting drive. It handles a coating width up to 500 mm at 0–12 m/min, with listed precision of ±0.3 mm and 1.1 kW power. It suits pilot lines cutting intermittently coated electrode into sheets.
Length setting, gap tracking and drive
Gelon describes cutting to a requested length set digitally on a PLC with an English interface, with gap-length cutting and tracking and a pneumatic drive. The table lists a maximum coating width of 500 mm, precision of ±0.3 mm, speed of 0–12 m/min, 1.1 kW power and a size of 1450 ×1250 ×1050 mm. Ask for the maximum incoming web width as well, since it can exceed the coating width.
The unwinding tension adjustment row reads 12 Nm, which is a torque. Ask where that torque acts and how web tension changes as the reel empties. Sensor type, readable coating contrast, thickness range and the shortest and longest cut lengths are not listed.

Check where each cut lands
Send your repeating coated and uncoated pattern, the cut position you want, and the collector and coating properties. Ask which edge or mark the machine follows and what it does when a gap is faint or missing. Agree the reference point and what ±0.3 mm means on the finished electrode.
Run a roll with normal pattern variation, and a roll change if you will make them in production. Measure cut length and cut position against the coating as two separate results, because a piece can be the right length and still be cut in the wrong place. Set edge quality and particle limits as well, since Gelon lists no burr or delamination figure.

From web speed to good pieces
To turn 12 m/min into pieces per minute you need the cut pitch, the dwell and the feed behaviour. Agree a part drawing and time the full cycle through unloading, operator steps included. Ask for air pressure, air flow and cutting force, which the page does not give.
During the trial, cut the tracking signal and stop a cut midway to see recovery and how much material is scrapped. Get details of guarding, trim waste collection, blade maintenance and calibration. At handover, save the PLC recipe and first-off check for your pattern so the operator can confirm each new roll cuts correctly.
Gelon's profile lists the stackers that receive these sheets, and the acceptance test planning page sets out how to check length and burr on samples.
