Gelon large double-planetary slurry mixer family
Gelon's large double-planetary mixers knead electrode slurry with agitators that rotate and revolve at close clearance, while wall and bottom scrapers keep material moving. The family runs from a 100 L type with 130 L design volume to a 1000 L type with 1258 L design volume. It suits production slurry preparation for coating lines.
Design volume and effective volume
Gelon pairs each type with a design and an effective volume: the 100 L type has 130 L design and 100 L effective, the 200 L type 265 and 200 L, the 300–500 L type 650 and 500 L, and the 1000 L type 1258 and 1000 L. Plan batches from the effective figure. If you want a 300 L working batch, ask for it as a separate option, since the table groups 300–500 L under one label. The signed vessel drawing should name the quoted size.
The agitators rotate and revolve, kneading at low clearance in a circular path, and scrapers work the wall and the bottom. Gelon describes uniform mixing with no dead areas. Speed, torque, vacuum range, heating or cooling and wetted materials are not listed, and no homogeneity test is published.

Catalogue values apply to the configuration and test method the maker states. Ask for the values that apply to your configuration.

Size the batch from your slurry
Send the chemistry, solvent, solids loading, addition order and viscosity measured under stated conditions. Ask for the minimum and maximum usable fill for that slurry, the motor and torque range and the agitator and scraper setup. Effective volume is Gelon's working reference in litres; your batch mass also depends on slurry density and process conditions.
Set sampling points and the measures that accept uniformity, such as solids distribution or another figure that matters to your cell. Gelon gives no dispersion endpoint or particle size result. Write temperature rise and any de-aeration into the process specification. Ask directly whether vacuum and a high-speed disperser are included.

Discharge, residue and changeover
Scrapers keep material off the wall, and some slurry will still stay behind. Ask for the outlet design, discharge method and access to the bottom, seals and scraper contact areas. Use your slurry to measure how much of a batch you recover and to settle the cleaning method.
If you run several chemistries, specify wetted surfaces and seals, changeover acceptance and solvent handling, none of which the catalogue lists. Compare the whole batch cycle, from loading through mixing and discharge to cleaning, with recorded material results. A bigger vessel cuts batch count only when your process and building can handle that cycle.
Gelon's profile lists the smaller mixers used to develop a recipe before scaling to this family, such as the Gelon small-batch planetary mixer, and the slurry goes on to coating, so the coating width page belongs in the trial plan. Ask for working volume rather than vessel volume in the quotation; the RFQ guide gives the wording.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which volume is being quoted? | Each type has a larger design volume than effective volume, and one type is labelled 300–500 L. | Name the actual vessel and working-fill window. |
| What establishes a uniform batch? | The page describes uniform mixing with no sampling method or dispersion figure. | Agree material-specific endpoints and representative batch samples. |
| Will the family suit changeover and discharge? | The page lists no outlet design, wetted materials or cleaning method. | Test recovery and cleaning with your slurry. |
