Gelon GN-MR240×400 precision single-sheet calender

Gelon's GN-MR240×400 presses coated electrode one sheet at a time on rolls 240 mm in diameter and 400 mm wide, with 300 mm usable. It lists 30 t maximum roll pressure, up to 5 m/min stable speed and ±2 µm post-pressing deviation when incoming sheets vary by no more than ±3 µm. It suits precise sheet work in pilot and development labs.

Sheet feed, roll size and load

The rolls measure 240 mm in diameter by 400 mm face width, and the effective width is 300 mm. Stable production speed is no more than 5 m/min and the maximum pressure between rolls is 30 t. Assembled roll runout without load is within ±0.003 mm. Ask Gelon to state in the signed specification whether 30 t is a total force and how it is measured.

The machine takes individual sheets: aluminium collector of 10–30 µm, copper of 5–30 µm and a total electrode thickness of 50–400 µm. Gelon names LFP, LCO, LMO, ternary, graphite and silicon-carbon materials. Each composition still needs its own pressing and coating integrity trial to find its recipe.

BUYER NOTES

The conditions behind ±2 µm

Gelon gives post-pressing deviation of no more than ±2 µm when incoming sheets vary by no more than ±3 µm, leaving out head, tail and edge anomalies. Mark the inspected area, sampling points and excluded strips on your sheet drawing, and specify target density or porosity as a separate requirement.

The qualification rate is at least 99%, excluding defective incoming sheets and power or gas problems at the site. The failure rate is at most 2%, counting only downtime caused by machine faults. Your own yield and availability will include those other causes. Agree incoming checks and every exclusion before the witnessed run, and keep rejected sheets with the reason for each.

Foundation, utilities and handover

Power is about 18 kW including a 10% safety margin, on 380 V/50 Hz three-phase five-wire supply. Air is 0.4–0.7 MPa at 12 L/min through an 8 mm outside-diameter hose. The machine measures about 2654 ×1328 ×1537 mm and weighs about 2 t. Gelon asks for at least 2 t/m² under the main frame, or the supplied foundation drawing. That point load is higher than the machine mass spread over its footprint, so plan the floor from the drawing.

Specify sheet guides, loading, the pass recipe and inspection at unloading. The page lists no roll heating, so ask Gelon directly if you need warm pressing. Handover should cover calibration under load, sample sheets and the method for checking the ±2 µm figure. Compare machines on usable sheet area accepted per hour with the operator included.

Gelon's profile lists the roll-to-roll calenders used when sheet work moves to a line.

Still to confirm

  • Whether 30 t is a total roll force and how it is calibrated.
  • Whether roll heating is available on this model.
  • Thickness deviation on your sheets, including the head, tail and edge areas left out of the ±2 µm figure.
  • How the 99% qualification and 2% failure rates were counted.
