Gelon double-level slot-die coating line with steam-heated oven

Gelon's precision slot-die line runs unwind, coating head, oven, traction, rewind and electrical control for positive and negative electrodes. It coats in continuous, intermittent or grid patterns, dries in an upper and lower steam-heated oven rated to 150°C, and adds automatic reel changing, areal-density detection and an online CCD. It targets production electrode lines.

Coating modes, oven and reel handling

Gelon lists continuous, intermittent and grid coating for both cathode and anode. The oven has upper and lower levels, steam heating and hot-air circulation, with a maximum temperature of 150°C. Reels change automatically on a top-cone arrangement with matching AGV loading and unloading. The line carries areal-density detection and an online CCD device.

The title says double-layers slot-die coating, while the table puts the upper and lower levels in the oven. Ask how many coating heads come with the line and whether both faces are coated in one pass, and request a web path and head layout drawing. The text calls it a GW/H automatic line; ask Gelon for a rated output in your own units for your electrode.

BUYER NOTES

Match the oven to your slurry

Send slurry solids, solvent, the conditions for your viscosity measurement, the collector and the wet and dry coating targets. Ask for the usable width, the flow window, head adjustment and pattern registration for intermittent or grid coating, since no numerical limits are given. The 150°C ceiling alone will not tell you how fast the web can run and still dry.

Agree oven zones, residence time, steam supply conditions and the exhaust and solvent recovery scope for your chemistry. Zone lengths, residual solvent and emission control are not listed. In the trial, check coating uniformity, pattern edges and the condition of the dry electrode against your drying target.

BUYER NOTES

What the inline devices measure and record

The areal-density gauge and the CCD are named without range, accuracy, defect classes or sampling interval. Ask for calibration standards, measuring positions and how online readings line up with offline acceptance tests. Specify how a defect is tied to its position on the roll and what the line does when a limit is crossed. Ask whether the gauge corrects the coating head automatically and whether an MES link is included.

For automatic reel change and AGV handling, agree the delivery scope, roll mass and core interface, splice behaviour and where AGV traffic ends on site. Watch a reel change with your materials and note how much electrode is scrapped. Count sustained good roll output with those changes and your drying recipe included.

Questions that change the purchase

DecisionWhat the catalogue saysNext step
How many coating heads and faces are included? The table uses double layers for the oven and shows no head layout.Approve the web path and head arrangement.
Will the drying recipe meet the electrode requirement? The table lists 150°C maximum with no residence time or residual solvent figure.Qualify the slurry, oven zones and exhaust at working speed.
What can inline inspection reject? The table names areal-density and CCD devices without measuring specifications.Agree calibration, defect samples and roll-position records.
