Gelon 450 mm roll-to-roll hydraulic electrode calender
Gelon builds this automatic roll-to-roll hydraulic press for electrode calendering, with digital pressure control and high-strength alloy rolls 400 mm in diameter and 450 mm wide. It presses webs 100–400 mm wide at 0–20 m/min, which fits pilot and small production lines densifying coated electrode rolls.
Roll size, working width and drive
The rolls are 400 mm in diameter and 450 mm wide, and the effective calendering width is 100–400 mm, so plan your web against the smaller figure. The roll gap adjusts from 0 to 2 mm. Speed is set on a touchscreen from 0 to 20 m/min. Gelon lists a 12 kW maximum load on a 380 V, 50 Hz three-phase supply.
Gelon describes the machine as a roll-to-roll hydraulic press with precision digital pressure control. The catalogue gives no rated force, line load, pressure resolution, roll temperature range or thickness accuracy, and it does not mention heated rolls. If your process needs warm pressing or a set tolerance on the finished sheet, ask for both in the quotation. The unwind and rewind units also need roll diameter, core, mass and tension figures.

Describe the electrode you want out of the nip
Send collector thickness, coating weight on each face, incoming thickness and the target density or porosity. A final thickness on its own may miss the structure you need. Agree where thickness is measured across the web and along the roll, and what coating adhesion and edge condition you will accept.
Ask the supplier how the hydraulic pressure setting relates to the real pressing load and how that link is calibrated. Roll deflection, variation in the incoming coating and web tension all move the result, so get a clear list of the control and measuring equipment included. Plan a trial on your own electrode that samples startup, steady running and a restart at the speed you intend to use.

Check the rewound roll and the controls
Confirm that the full unwind and rewind arrangement is in the quotation and get its installation drawing. Set the roll build and tension behaviour you expect as the roll diameter grows. Inspect the electrode after rewind, where loose wraps or handling marks can show up even when the nip did its job.
Agree interlocks, guarded access and what happens when the web stops. Dense targets may call for a speed below the 20 m/min ceiling, so compare offers on sustained accepted electrode at your density. The handover should include calibration, the setup procedure and recipe recording.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Does the electrode fit the working window? | The rolls are 450 mm wide and the effective width is 100–400 mm. | Approve the web and roll-interface drawing. |
| What controls the required electrode structure? | The catalogue describes digital pressure control without a force figure or density result. | Agree pressure calibration and thickness and density sampling under load. |
| Can the maximum speed be used? | Speed is listed as 0–20 m/min with no material named. | Witness sustained accepted output and a restart on your coating. |
