Courage PA10 robotic battery-busbar laser system
The Courage Krz-PA10 is a robot-mounted fibre-laser system that Courage lists for battery busbar welding as well as general industrial welding. Buyers choose the robot from ABB, FANUC, Yaskawa or KUKA and the laser from 4–30 kW, with a wobble head and PLC/HMI control. It suits module and pack joints that a gantry cannot reach.

Robot brands, processing range and laser power options
Courage offers ABB, FANUC, Yaskawa and KUKA robots, a processing range of 0–8000 mm and robot repeat positioning of 0.05–0.06 mm. The 8000 mm figure covers the whole family, and each robot has its own native reach. Ask for the selected robot model, payload, reach and any external axis, plus drawings of the robot, positioner and weld path over your fixture.
Fibre-laser power runs from 4–30 kW, with a wobble welding head and optional processing setups. The same page also covers cladding, hardening and thick-plate welding of several metals. For a battery project, pick the source, optics and recipe after a trial on a representative busbar joint.

Joint geometry, seam location and heat into the cell
Define the busbar and terminal geometry, alloy, plating, joint gap and access. Check how the fixture holds each joint and how the system sets part and tool coordinates. Robot repeatability describes motion; seam location, penetration and module yield come from welding trials on your parts. Cells that are sensitive to heat need an agreed heat-input limit and an inspection plan.
Courage lists PLC and HMI control. Vision, seam tracking, focus-height correction and cell-ID records are not specified for this model, so ask Courage to name the sensing and data functions it will deliver on the PA10 itself. At acceptance, recall recipes, change a path and show how an interrupted or failed weld is handled.

Joint acceptance and the full laser workcell
Courage describes high reliability and first-grade welds without naming a standard or test method. Agree limits for joint resistance, strength, cross-sections, spatter and temperature effects on the cell. Test your own cells and interconnects on the quoted setup, and count good finished modules over a full handling cycle. That trial gives you the battery throughput figure.
Request the full workcell layout, loading method, enclosure, interlocks, fume extraction, chiller and connected utilities, because the page has no power or cooling schedule for a battery cell. The reference image shows a robot system; ask how the installed cell will meet the laser and machinery safety rules at your site. Agree service duties for the bought-in robot and laser, programme backups and spare optics before commissioning.
The gantry alternative is the Courage KRZ-LM20, and the FAT and SAT page shows how to qualify busbar joints before choosing either. Joint resistance can be measured as the cell measurement page describes.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which robot reaches the actual weld path? | The catalogue lists four robot brands and a 0–8000 mm family processing range. | Approve the selected robot, external axes and fixture path on a drawing. |
| Which laser configuration qualifies the busbar joint? | Power options run from 4–30 kW and the page also covers thick-plate and cladding work. | Trial your terminals and busbars on the proposed source and optics. |
| What is included in the guarded workcell? | The page gives no utility, sensing or safety equipment list. | Fix enclosure, services, controls and acceptance duties in the contract. |
