Courage KRZ-LM20 battery-connection gantry laser welder

The Courage KRZ-LM20 is a gantry fibre-laser welder for battery cell connection pieces, with dedicated fixturing, CCD observation and real-time energy monitoring. The table lists a Raycus source, a 6600 W average-output entry, optional 1000 ×1400 ×200 mm travel and ±0.02 mm repeat positioning. It suits busbar and terminal joining in module and pack assembly.

Laser source, gantry travel and wobble welding

Courage lists a Raycus fibre laser at 1080 ±5 nm, an average output of 6600 W and a maximum modulation frequency of 5 kHz. The model name LM20 suggests a 2 kW class, which differs from that table entry. Ask for the exact source model, its data sheet, the control modes supplied and the calibration record. Penetration and yield on your joints come from a weld trial.

The optional X/Y/Z travel is 1000 ×1400 ×200 mm with ±0.02 mm repeat positioning. The outside size is 2500 ×1800 ×2000 mm and can be customised. Approve the fixture, the reachable welding area and the clamping on a drawing for your largest PACK. Courage describes continuous wobble welding as reducing pores and cracks; check that on cut sections of your own joints.

BUYER NOTES

Fibre and beam figures to correct before ordering

The fibre-core row reads 50um, 100mm, which mixes micrometres and millimetres. The beam-quality row is labelled M² but gives a value of below 2 mm·mrad with another 50mm note. Ask the supplier for the fibre-core diameter, the beam-quality definition, the source data sheet and the optical drawings, all in consistent units.

The listed focal spot is 0.2–0.4 mm, with optional F330 focusing and F150 collimation and a fibre length of 20 m that can be customised. Agree the optical path, working distance, focus setting and protective optics. Courage lists real-time energy monitoring and CCD observation. Ask what quantity the monitor measures, how it is calibrated and what the machine does when a weld goes wrong, then check joint quality on samples as well.

BUYER NOTES

Power, chiller, environment and the joint trial

The table gives 200–240 VAC at 50/60 Hz for the equipment and 380 V three-phase at 50 Hz for the chiller, with ±5% voltage tolerance. It gives no total connected load or cooling duty, so request both for your configuration. The catalogue mentions D-class grounding at 100 ohm; your site electrical design and local protection rules set the actual earthing.

The listed environment is 10–40°C and up to 95% RH, with no oil mist or condensation, a clean floor with little vibration, and room for service. Agree cooling, fume extraction, guarding and laser interlocks for your installation. Trial your busbar and terminal materials, overlap, gap and plating, then measure resistance, strength, penetration and cell heating. Courage describes consistent depth and one-step forming; the trial will show what your joint achieves.

Joints should be qualified on sample busbars during a factory test, as the acceptance testing page explains, and the robot-mounted alternative is the Courage PA10.
