ACEY-LWM gantry and galvanometer battery busbar laser welder
ACEY-LWM is a fibre-laser welding family for battery PACK busbars. A galvanometer scan head rides on an XY gantry, and ACEY offers 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 6000 W sources at 1070 nm. It is aimed at aluminium and copper busbar joints on prismatic cell modules.

Pick one configured machine from the family table
ACEY's catalogue lists laser sources of 1500, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 6000 W, all at 1070 nm with QBH output and water cooling. A galvanometer head moves on XY gantry positioning, and the page mentions support for up to six motion axes. Ask how many axes come with your machine, and for the scan field, focus range and reach over the whole module fixture.
The table groups travel, electrical supply, cable length and footprint for several power levels in shared cells. Ask ACEY for a sheet for the one model you will buy, listing laser source, head, motion range, cooling unit and installation drawing. The supply and travel on that sheet should belong to the same machine.

Qualify the busbar and terminal together
ACEY lists copper, aluminium, iron, nickel and alloys, and stresses aluminium/copper busbar joints on prismatic cells. Dissimilar metals each need their own settings. Send ACEY the thicknesses, coatings, surface condition, overlap and terminal construction. Heat input and penetration must suit the real cell connection.
Ask for cut cross-sections plus agreed mechanical and electrical tests on the samples. A photograph of a smooth bead tells you little. Set limits for porosity, cracking, penetration depth and heat damage on your joint. Fixture contact and part-to-part gaps affect the result as much as laser power does. Ask ACEY to develop and document a weld recipe and expected yield on your own busbar.

Camera, positioning and weld checks
ACEY describes CCD monitoring, a red aiming beam, and software for weld paths and stored parameters. These tools help with setting up and watching the process. Ask whether the system also passes or rejects each weld automatically, what data it records, how it links a cell or module ID, and which defects stop the machine.
The table gives repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.02 mm. That figure describes the motion system; weld strength and penetration need their own limits. Check calibration and fixture repeatability on their own. Ask for the enclosure, interlocks, fume extraction and laser safety specification of the machine you buy, and for CE documents issued for that exact configuration.
ACEY's profile shows the sorting and stacking stations used before busbar welding. The page on factory and site acceptance explains how to qualify joints on sample busbars.

Questions that change the purchase
| Decision | What the catalogue says | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Which power/configuration is being quoted? | The page lists five laser powers from 1500 to 6000 W with differing travel, supply and footprint. | Obtain one configuration sheet and installation drawing. |
| Is the actual joint qualified? | The page lists copper, aluminium, iron, nickel and alloys but no joint results. | Trial your busbar/terminal stack with agreed section, strength and resistance checks. |
| What does the monitoring system detect? | The page describes CCD monitoring and red-beam positioning. | Define the recorded signals, traceability and response to each defect. |
Equipment questions
Does automatic welding include automatic module loading?
The base family covers programmed weld motion, and ACEY says it can be built into a line. Loading, clamping, inspection and unloading are extra scope. Write those interfaces into the quote and the acceptance run, and list the manual tasks and fault recovery steps.
